Travel Channel Caves to Bush Administration

I've heard a rumor that the Travel Channel has made the World Poker Tour folks remove references to online poker sites from their shows because of threats from the Bush administration's draconian department of "justice". Does anyone have any more (or first-hand) information about this? If true it represents yet another erosion of freedom by the right-wing zealots.

Admittedly this is probably less important an erosion than others (e.g., arbitrary denial of habeous corpus), but it confirms a scary trend to me.

Hmmmmmmmmm. I wonder what 50 million poker players would think of that. It would be good to see the Travel Channel simply announce to the world exactly what the "justice" department is doing.

what do ya expect; there is no freedom in amerika: just try to buy your underwear where ya want; people will not even grant you that option any more (stop wal mart??) ; do not blame the leaders; it is the populace that wants things a certain way; and allows the gestapo to run wild...

Today\'s NYT

has an article about Google, Yahoo and other sites caving in as well.

My 6th grade teacher told me that in Germany an activity was illegal until proven legal, and in America an activity was legal until proven illegal. See the article and see if she was right.

As do Yahoo and Google.

I love how my government is saving me from the evils of internet gambling and the trauma of seeing exposed saggy breasts.

Ah, those crazy republicans and their love of states rights, small government and individual freedom.

Hrmm... maybe I was thinking of somebody else.

No, Republicans are hypocrites for the most part. Not all, but most. I think the two political parties now differ on only social issues. Republicans are big spending, high tax, big government social conservatives. Democrats are tax and spend big government social moderates. Frustrating. This election will be hard Can't vote for the democrat who fully admits to being a communist. At least republicans are ashamed of being as liberal as they are. But the Ashcroft justice department is ridiculous. No good choice for those who would like civil liberties and a low tax bill. At least until libertarians become viable I guess.
