But what the hell could he have that beats hero other than a strangely played AA... I see a couple of hands that he might play this way that don't beat hero, though. Like Aces up, or a lower set. I don't think this is way wrong...

EDIT: Sorry, obviously 78, messed positions up. Ok, I agree it's excessive...

Re: 3 betting this river excessive?

WIth a 2-flush on the board you must 3-bet this flop or call his flop raise and lead the turn. You should NEVER call his flop bet and check the turn.

I would 3-bet this river. I don't think he's capping a flush draw on the turn or a hand that includes an 8. I think he can play A9, A6, or 66 the same way. If he smooth called your 3-bet preflop with AA then I think he waits until the turn to pop you. I can't see him raising the flop with it.

Post the results, please.

With the turn action it's a lot less likely... I mean he could have a pair and flush draw, but it has to be one of the two lower pairs. I doubt he'd go nuts on the turn with that.

I don't 3-bet this river. If it was a non-spade I would consider it.

3 betting the river is suicide. Paying off the 4 bet is beyond that.
