Game selection

You have the choice between playing 200/400 HU against an opponent that you are better than, but not by much, enough that you realize that you are better than him but no real glaring flaws, or 8 tabling 30/60 on party. Which do you usually pick? Mood dependant?

If variance is a concern, obviously 8-table.

Otherwise I think I'd do the HU for learning purposes. EV may or may not be slightly less, but I don't imagine someone who is at the level of 8-tabling is going to learn much from it.

I assume that, by hypothesis, you expect to win about the same in either game. Obviously, if you are more confident of your winrate in one over the other, you'd always pick that one. But if your expected winrate is approximately equal, I'd play 200/400 HU every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The downside is that variance is obviously higher, but it is by far more interesting and entertaining.

Almost always the 30/60 by far. HU is very stressful, especially at high stakes.

I don't know why you're wondering, really.

It seems like finding a high stakes heads up game that is worth playing in is going to be extremely rare.
