Small Stakes Mod

Ok, so it seems like the ball is rolling on the forum split. As the 1/2 and 2/4 games are where I play, I'll be taking over modding the mid stakes forum, so we need a mod for the new small stakes forum.

Anyone care to step up to the plate?

Re: Small Stakes Mod

perhaps we could nominate people or vote on it in a poll?

Re: Small Stakes Mod

Perhaps a brief description of the expectations, experience and responsibilities of a mod is in order before asking for volunteers. Some of us over the age of 25 have no idea what you guys do.

I think nominations and voting (based upon screening of qualified candidates) would be fun.

Re: Small Stakes Mod

As a mod, here is basically what I do.

Close spam, bam the spammer. Send threads off to whatever forum they belong to when they are posted here and shouldn't be, basically limit hands, tournament hands, MH hands and dumb bad beats (now that we have a forum for that).

Then occasionally people send you a PM asking you for advice or something. It's really not much work, most of it is just trying to post interesting hands and answering questions, i.e. just be a good poster in general.

How much time would you estimate you spend per day on average modding?

If you mean doing strictly mod related activities, then <2 minutes. Seriously. I post a lot though.

Re: Small Stakes Mod

there are some obvious candidates for modship based on what i've seen in the past month or so that i've been a regular poster.. i guess it boils down to who wants to do it the most.

Here would be a good place to list those obvious candidates...

Kongo would be fine, although he's more of a medium stakes player these days.

Re: Small Stakes Mod

I'd be willing to do it since this was my first home, but I've been spending a lot more time in OOT, BBV and micro-limit lately, so you might be able to find a better candidate.

I was a mod on the Vault Network forums (second largest internet board system) for over 1.5 years (we actually got paid, kind of).

I'm game and experienced.

TWP is on here alot isn't he. I think he is in the Midlevel as for the games he plays though.

98% of moderating a forum consists of reading most of the stuff that's posted in the forum. When something needs to be done it's usually pretty obvious.

I have discussed with Grunch and we would be happy to do it as co-mods.

I think most of those people are playing mid stakes. I will be posting mainly to the mid stakes forum and I have no interest in moderating anything.

xorbie, how long until the new forum will be added?

I think the best choices are AJ and Grunch, as both play micro nl and post alot. Pehaps they could co-mod?

PFffft. I totally called dibs on the Mid forum.

Re: Small Stakes Mod

If you really want to do it, there's always room for another mod (can't tell if you're being sarcastic or half serious half sarcastic).

Thank God this finally happening.

I waited and waited and finally my dreams have come true. Ok I'm being a little dramatic.

I think people should throw out names and we should vote. Just my two cents.

yeah I think these are good choices as well, but a vote is a good democratic choice, as the people who vote I am guessing will be the same people who care about how the forum is moderated... and the people who don't... don't.

Re: Small Stakes Mod

AJ, Grunch, swolfe, amobea, kongo, malachaii, poboy,4_2, skeme,TWP are all good choices. Although some play mid now so ...?

Re: Small Stakes Mod

I can see how my posts seemed sarcastic, but I actually would be interested in giving back to the forum.

I am fairly experienced with the work required for the job (I ran a much smaller forum for a few months until it died out).

Furthermore, I have 2 more classes until I get my Software Engineering degree, and am quite sure that I could help with any modifications that need to happen to the forum. (Although I'm not so sure that this would be within the scope of the job.)
