$7,500,000 WSOP first prize?

There's a banner on this site which states how much Moneymaker and Raymer paid to enter online satellites and how much they won. The ad ends saying you could turn $0 into $7,500,000.

Has Harrahs already annouced a guaranteed first prize of $7,500,000 for the 2005 WSOP?

It will likely be larger than that. I'm sure that's just an estimate based on the predicted number of entrants this year (5000+?) - 10 million wouldn't surprise me.

5,000 entrants X $10,000 buy-in = $50,000,000 USD. First place will definitely be at least ten million!

It will probably be at least that next year, but judging by the commercial it sounded like they just added up their two wins together to reach the figure. Not exactly legit, especially since you could easily say "over 5 million dollars" and have the same effect.

Hey Dynasty. Sorry for the hijack, but will you pony up the buyin and play? Just curiuos to know if this is the "standard", so to speak, for Las Vegas local pros.

I think I read somewhere that first place was going to be capped at 7.5... this was a long time ago... right after the last WSOP ended.

Players are capped this year at 6,600 I think.

If that's the case then it's crap. If they get 5000 plus players, there shouldn't be a cap on the winner's share.

(not like I'd turn down 7.5 mil, but you know what I mean)

I don't play in tournaments. I'm certainly not going to pay the $10,000 entry fee. I'll consider the online satellite route.
