How do you know when it is time to move up in limits?

Is it based on your winnings or is this more of a psychological feel that dictates when you know it is time to move up in limits? I would appreciate your views on this subject matter.

Both. Bankroll is your obvious first concern and can search the archinves for some great info in regards to those requirements, but there is definitely a psychological aspect. If you've been grinding your way to a big bankroll, its obviously different than just killing the limit your at. You should be at a point where you feel like you're consistently one of the best at your table, and then gradually move up in limits. If you multitable, go half and half. Don't be afraid to move back down if its not the right time. Patience is a virtue.

(Seriously, though, a huge part of it is how comfortable you are at taking a shot, which is a reflection of both your bankroll and confidence.)

A more important question is "how do you know when it is time to move down in limits".
