Been off the forums the last few days, holy cripes, what the [censored] is going on? Apparently you can change your name, I have just asked for a change, anyone else? Can we get a thread to record those who have?

There was an upgrade done yesterday so some new features. I wasn't aware this was one of them. Why would anyone want to change their name?

The name change stil has to be approved by a moderator. So how is this different from before?

Only very high profile folks had name changes (MajorKong, fossilman) but it was still possible.

I hate my name, I never thought I'd even post on here. My name basically declares me as a pretentious music guy who's not pretentious enough to know that declaring oneself as Indie is gayer than richard simmons eating a banana. Most people know my alter ego anyway, so I'd like to use that.

This is something that is currently being discussed amongst the mods and admins. Is it possible? Yes. However, we don't want to start changing people's names because of possibly inciting forum chaos. At present time, it's not happening. If it ever happens, it will have to be personally approved by Mat. Changing names at will is STRICTLY verbotten. Also, any change you make to your name would almost certainly have to leave your new name recognizable as to who you were, ala MrWookie47 --> MrWookie. Don't hold your breath about this, however.
