Can anyone think of an extremely simple and irrefutable discussion of pot odds I can link a friend to? He's wrong and won't listen to me, and unfortunately so much of the discussion on the net is faulty as well...I don't have a copy of TOP or SSH handy, so i can't just point to page X....

pot odds is a fairly vast world - what specifically is the bet?

you're getting 10:1 on a call., so it's breakeven if you're a 10:1 dog, +EV if you're 9:1, -EV if you're 11:1 (ignoring implied odds)

You guys just might be confusing yourself with the way you are saying this. Is it a 40 dollar pot, plus a 4 dollar bet from your opponent(thus making the pot 44 bucks, and not 40) or is it a 36 dollar pot with a 4 dollar bet from your opponent?

One is 11 to 1, the other is 10 to 1

Exactly. The situation is that there's $40 in the pot. Action on me. Its 2-4 limit so i have to put in $4 to call. THe pot is laying me 10-1..


he was saying, with the bet i'd be putting in, i'm getting 11-1, which is wrong...
