question about laptop brightness

I recently purchases a Dell laptop. When it is plugged into the wall the display is a lot brighter; is this normal?

Yes, it gets dimmer when on the battery alone to save power. I think there is a way to change this if you don't like it, but I don't know how.

Press the function button on your keyboard then the up arrow.
