Between a Rock and a Hard Place?

'Stars $50 + 5 Single. 5 left. Since we got to 5-handed, table has been very tight. Blinds are 100/200.

I get A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the BB

Seat 1: C/O(2840 in chips)
Seat 2: Button (3000 in chips)
Seat 3: SB (1895 in chips)
Seat 4: KURN - BB (2980 in chips)
Seat 6: UTG (2785 in chips)

UTG makes it 800 to go, folded to SB who calls, I call.

(3 players, 2400) Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB goes all-in for 1095. My turn with the original preflop raiser yet to act.

Comments? My decision and results sometime tomorrow.

I call the flop here without thinking twice.

SB looks like a stop and go. If he had a stronger hand than you he'd probably wouldn't fastplay it like this.

What are you afraid the raiser has? AK? I think a pair of some sort is more likely. Even if he does have AK, he could possibly lay it down to all that action in front of him.

Considering this is a $55, it seems like you're beat, multiple times over. I'd fold preflop after SB calls, if SB folded I'd actually be more inclined to push than call.

That's an awfully tough fold getting better than 3:1 with AQs.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me with a tight UTG raiser and commited SB, doubly so with his weird call.

You have a 15xbb stack - utilize folding equity to your advantage, especially on a "tight "table. You have none here. Assume you shove, SB is for all intents and purposes all in, and UTG will be getting 2.75:1 and come in for the rest of his 2000 with anything halfway decent.

I muck this (pf that is)

Failing to push pre-flop has created the situation you now face; however, I go broke with your hand at this point

Kurn,

I think the other posters have discussed the mistake preflop on this hand. However, seeing as you did see the flop, you now have top pair second kicker. Since you called 800 preflop, what sort of flop were you expecting to see? Short of flopping trips or better, this is about the best you can ask for. Now that you're in the hand, I call here without hesitation. Were you hoping to miss the flop so you could fold unimproved? If so, what was the point of playing the hand in the first place?

You called 1/3 of your stack preflop and just made top pair, queen kicker. I think at this point you have an easy call.
