Re: QJs openlimps

thanks, a couple of questions tho:

how much of a mistake is limping in to try and attract some multiway action? would it be raise 80% limp 20%? with the straight, flush and high card value i was trying to increase callers.

and if we bet the river is it bet/fold or bet/call?

Re: QJs openlimps

Open limping from MP is a very table specific thing. If I have some mega fish to my left, then I'll be more open to open limp here if I know 2 of them will come in, and the small blind will complete 80% of the time. If not, I'm raising here, especially with a hand like QJs, which makes me more likely to raise.

With 88 I am definately raising. With QJs I think you have enough high card strength with the narrowed field to try a raise here. With JTs I'd be more open to open limping in the situation I described above.

If you bet the turn, you have to bet the river.

I like it. I would probably raise preflop but postflop is played fine imo. You dont to be raised and he might bluff a straight draw.

Does the fact that he called flop and turn bets, make you a bit worried? I usually check/call here because of this.

What I'm trying to say:

On the turn, there is ZERO overcards that can come to your pair. If you are ahead, your opponent is drawing to two or 3outs (ignoring the BDFD).
You're not clearing up any outs, you're not folding a better hand and you've got zero fold equity on another draw. The only reason to bet the turn is for value.
Fine. You bet and are called.
So what's changed on the river?

You get raised by a K here never and you're going to call a bet anyway. You should bet. You'll get called by worse Q's, T's and there is a small chance you fold a weak K.

I could see an arguement for check/calling if you thought he would bet a weak Q or T but not call with them. Or if he is likely to bluff a busted draw.
