109: Bubble call from SB

Maybe it's not an interesting hand... but I see people say that you should only call with AA or KK in this spot, and I disagree. Especially at the 109s when you play a lot of the same players again and again, and have a lot of bubble experience against them.

Button is a good bubble player--- He's pushing at a minimum every Ace, King, and pair... I've seen him push much worse hands as well-- though correctly. Also, one VERY important thing is that I KNOW that he doesn't push AA or KK here.

On a side-note, in this set of 8 games, I happened to be at 4 tables with him. I've just busted him out at three of them, during the push/fold stage.

Who would say that I should fold here and just wait for a confrontation with him ITM, knowing what I know about the Button's wide range of hands?

I think it's also important to note the the Button was correct in his push here.

WOW thats a terrible call for so many reasons. you're the big stack with lots of little stacks and you CALL an all in with a weak hand against the other big stack!? sorry if this is a joke post.

no-- my post was serious... and I seriously would make this call again against this opponent...

yes-- and losing means i am short stack with 775 in chips.

(i think this post of mine might actually end up being interesting)

It's not a call I make often, but if I know that there are people that play with me often enough, I will sometimes call 56o in that spot, but rarely.

I'll sometimes make a BAD call against an opponent that I play against often as well...

BUT--- I think that this isn't one of those situations.. I think that this is actually a correct call.

One way to think about this spot is to imagine the glee among the two shorties at seeing the two big stacks go to war on the bubble. They didn't pay a chip for that glee. Someone did.

I agree with this call. Say you call here with no read and lose. You still have 800 chips, and the button. You can correctly push next hand w/ any 2, into the 2 short stacks, which are at 1200 and 1400. Even if you lose, you have a good shot at the money. Couple with all of this, you know that villian is pushing any 2, I think this becomes major +$EV and +cEV. NH.

His push is very close (but probably correct) and your call is a no brainer. Nice hand.

He DID push J3s. If you read him for having a range that includes J3s, you are correct to call.

Re: 109: Bubble call from SB

I don't entirely agree about your assessment of my chances if I lose this hand.

If I lose-- the monster stack will be pushing any two UTG.. I will have to call from the button, or wait. When I'm UTG with 775 chips, monster will be BB and will of course be calling any two for only 375 more.. making it not correct for me to push any two... there's a good chance that if monster-UTG doesn't push next hand, and I do from the button-- the BB will call with any two also.

I have to get lucky in order to get ITM from here if I lose. I would still have a chance-- it's just not a very rosy picture.
