Canadian Tax Question
 

For all you Canucks out there do you declare anything?

As far as I'm aware gambling earnings aren't taxable. Now if this is your primary source of income, then I understand it can be taxed.

But if it isn't, do you even have to declare it? Or can you just not even mention it?

of course u don't pay tax for winnings. Even if it is law that winnings are taxable, I'm still not paying. Why should we pay taxes for winning at gambling but can't claim losses? Fair is fair....

Pretty sure that unless it's your primary source of income you don't have to declare it.

Primary as in only, or primary as in you make more from that than another job that you have?

The only distinction that matters is whether poker is a business for you.

Whether poker earnings constitute 1% or 100% of your income is irrelevant.

It is your intent and approach to playing that determines whether you are taxable.
