Joe Cassidy sick call

Anyone have the betting on other streets that led to this ?

With the board showing 9s-6d-5d-Qh-Jh on the river, Joe Cassidy bets $120,000 into a $500,000 pot, and Patrik Antonius raises to $320,000. Cassidy makes an incredible call with Ad-7c (ace high). Sure enough, Antonius shows Ah-3d, and Cassidy's kicker plays to win the entire pot.

Joe Cassidy is our new chip leader with approximately $1.45 million, while Antonius is down to $500,000.

Wonder what he put him on.Something like 7 4 or 3 4 heh.

I saw that too. I wondered the same thing, a great call though.

pretty unbelieveable

i'm not really a fan of cassidy's use of 72 to eliminate someone holding kj though

he went for a resteal on the button and got repopped allin from the CO

i'll have to look at the numbers, but i really don't know about even getting potsucked there.....yeeesh

i can only assume pot odds (~94:20) combined with the possiblity of a missed straight draw and a missed flush draw (Cassidy had Ad, so he would be ahead of any other non-paired missed flush draw) ... figured he was ahead 1 time in 5?

Still ... he has to figure that a lot of those times is he up against a bluff that beats A7o. one hell of a call at any rate ...

I'd bet heavily on some sort of tell that tipped this call. From a purely cards perspective it looks like a retarded call.

From the Cardplayer report he was getting about 2-1, needing to put 250k more into the pot on his call with the hammer. Those things have been shown to be way off in the past as far as what the action was on the hand, but if it's right, wow.

I agree, the board has three to a flush and three to a straight. I'd like to hear from some pros as to why they would call because from my point of view calling with Ace high is terrible. It looks like A4-A2 are the only reasonable hands that he would be ahead of.

That's why he's called The Sherriff....

Without knowing the betting leading up to the river, the size
of the reraise suggest either a really big hand or a bluff.
I think if the bluffer made a much bigger bet he may have
picked up the pot. There probably was enough of a suspicion
in Cassidy's mind about a bluff and if you factor in the pot
odds he's getting it's not that difficult to see why he called. Bottom line, great call by Cassidy.

All,

Check the threads in WPT. I post the gutshot account of this hand, which involves completely different betting and board.

Edited to add: pokerwire appears to agree w/ the Cardplayer account of this hand.
