Short stacked all in steal raises with suited connectors

I have added this play to my arsenal of weapons and wanted to see what you guys in here think about it. I have only been using it a short while but so far it has shown great success. I will give an example. I'm playing in a sng at stars today. Blinds are 75/150 and the table is pretty tight. I have T 600 and I'm the button with T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I move in I and get called by Aq off. I spike a t and a 9 and double up and move on. I know I was a 60/40 dog when he called me but still that is not too bad. It seems you steal the blinds enough with this type of hands to make this play profitable. I usually make this with 65s and up to jts if I’m pretty short stacked and the table is tight enough to fold more often than not. Does anyone else use this type of strategy or should I just get rid of it altogether.

I use this strategy with big blinds when I am short stacked, especially at tight tables. You have to pick your spots but it has worked well for me.

I do not oppose this type of move. when desperate, you have to take shots when you can, and suited connectors are not bad at all. Let's look at a possible scenario: you steal from the button or cutoff with 8c7c and get called by two high cards or Ax:

pokenum -h 8c 7c - as 4s

cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
8c 7c 772055 45.09 932115 54.44 8134 0.48 0.453
As 4s 932115 54.44 772055 45.09 8134 0.48 0.547

pokenum -h 8c 7c - ks td
Holdem Hi: 1712304 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
8c 7c 697956 40.76 1004258 58.65 10090 0.59 0.411
Ks Td 1004258 58.65 697956 40.76 10090 0.59 0.589

Putting 8c7c against A4s and KTo in each case 8c7c is only a small or moderate dog, and the chance of stealing the blinds more than compensates for the % dog you are in cases when you are called.

I like it because a lot of the time you are called it is by Ax and if you push with weak aces you wind up dominated so often.
