Raise PF and check/call it down?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (10 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, CO checks, Button bets, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls, CO folds.

Turn: (6 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

River: (8 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: 8 BB

No reads on villian except he played very aggressively against me in some hands before...Inquiring if the flop check is sensible and if check/calling down afterwards is correct.

what about betting the flop and letting button clear the field for you so u have it HU.

Its a decent pot and giving SB,BB and CO cheap cards sux.

How do you know button is going to raise? Giving free cards when you are not ahead sucks less than building a gigantic pot so that nobody folds when all you have is Ace-high.

See, this is what I was thinking. I had no idea whether or not button would bet or raise...I don't have a definitive answer whether my play has any merits. I don't know if it is the best line, but I think it is a decent - good line.

this is a pretty good flop for you. bet it and see how many drops.

if you're headsup on the turn I bet again, take the free card (if available) if we're 3.

I tend to bet this flop and then check the turn without reads. Hopefully the flop bet knocks all but one or two players out, and then I usually check down unless two opponents start playing at each-other. Given your read on villain, I like betting the flop, and if he raises the flop, check-raise the turn. Call down if he three bets. Make this guy give you some respect.

Thats just spewing a lot of chips.

Another line I would take against a less agressive opponent is to donk bet the turn too. Anyway you play it though, if you get heads up with this guy, you must showdown.

Re: Raise PF and check/call it down?

You might spew chips that one hand, but if you show the guy you're not afraid to show-down against him, then he will won't play back at you as hard (if he's sane, that is.)
