Looking for information on Slim\'s 1972 win

I recently picked up a copy of All In, the Jonathon Grotenstein/Storms Rebach chronicle of WSOP history. I was hoping it would be a tell-all, something like Aces and Kings, but when discussion of the 1972 series came up, there was never any mention of allegations the other players had thrown the title to Amarillo Slim.

I was hoping someone could furnish me with some facts concerning the allegations. Are they completely fabricated? Are they just an extension of the fact none of the players wanted the title for tax/notoriety reasons? If anyone can at least point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks 2+2,

Gary

Was this the year Doyle cashed out with 3 players left? I had read that he didn't want the publicity .

In any case, Slim got more milage out of winning an 8 player sit and go than anyone else in history.

Stop by the Bellagio and ask Puggy if he "threw" the title Slim's way.

After you get his boot out of your ass, you probably won't have to wait for a verbal reply.
