Live 80 hand... settle a dispute on river action
 

a good friend of mine (whose opinion I really respect and whose name most players here would recognize) and I have a big disagreement over the following hand.


I am in the BB with Ace-rag. folded to the SB who says "you chop?" I say no. He calls, I raise.

I have played against this guy before and i think he might be a 2+2er. very thoughtful player with some weak-tight post flop tendancies. At lower levels, he was definitely a winning player.

He calls my raise.

Flop: rainbow A T Q. He checks. I bet.

Turn: Q He checks very quickly. i could smell a check-raise coming so I checked behind

River: T He checks, I.....

I think you should check here. I cant really think of a hand that calls here that you get the whole pot from.

J9 or J8 are the only hands that limp preflop, call the flop, and then pay off the river hopping for a chop IMO.

Check, and I dont think its close.

Maybe, maybe a pocket pair will call you, but if this guy has weak-tight tendencies even that is a stretch. Most of the time you are either chopping or getting raised.
