I pushed because there is no hand I don't beat that a semi-aware player is checking on that flop - Unless perhaps, the player is insanely good/imaginative. I pushed because if a 9 or Q comes on the river I don't know if I'm good. I pushed b/c I put her on exactly QJ or J9 and thought I could get a call.

Your A9s idea is a really interesting one, however. That would be a pretty creative raise - but one of which she was incapable.

straightforward besthand whomp
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet
so, she didn't want to look stupid in front of her bf and folded faceup?
her raise is terrible but the theoretical fold is even worse

She checked a set of 3s on the flop.

I rivered a King and busted her.

She checked the flop because she's weak, not because she's good.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Seems hard to believe she checks a set or top two when checked to in a 4 handed pot on that draw heavy board.

Would she check the flop with AJ here? QJ, J9s, J8s?

Would she semi-bluff the turn?

I'm having a hard time putting her on a hand that beats you or a hand that will call this raise when behind.

However, if you think that she might have checked worse Js behind on the flop, then I don't think she can get away from them now.

I see people misplaying flopped sets on draw heavy boards all the time.

That's less concerning to me than the fact that it's highly unlikely he gets called by any hand he beats other than maybe QJ or J9, neither of which are likely to have checked the flop.

I pushed because there is no hand I don't beat that a semi-aware player is checking on that flop - Unless perhaps, the player is insanely good/imaginative. I pushed because if a 9 or Q comes on the river I don't know if I'm good.

Would you fold on the river? Problem here is that I think you only get called if you're beat. So your winnings are what's in the pot, and your loses are what's in the pot plus whatever's left in her stack.

This is one of those hands I think you get more money by letting her keep the lead. Does she raise the turn and check the river with QJ/J9, but would call the turn all in with QJ/J9? That's the only way I see that you make more money moving in on the spot, and I don't think it's overly likely.

I let her keep the lead and call a river bet. Lose less when behind, win more most of the time you're ahead.
