installing windows on a desktop with no cd drive...

Getting a desktop for free for my 12+ tabling setup (my laptop setup only allows 6-8tables). I'd like to install my windows XP cd on it but it looks like it won't have a cd drive.

First of all, can I even install this windows XP (that came with my laptop) on another machine?

Second, if I can do this, how do I install it using the CD? Can I somehow hook the desktop up to the laptop? Do I need to get an external CD drive??

I'd do a search on google I'm just not sure what to look for.

Put in a terporary cd-rom and install from that, and when that is done, just remove it.
