Going to Vegas.....any suggestions.

Im a working stiff now and am going to vegas from the 12th to the 17th......

The best deal I can find on the web after an admittedly modest search is a 588 dollar package on expedia....taxes and all that jazzz included.

I plan on playing about 50 hours playing poker during the trip.

I dont want to spend more than like 650 bucks on the hotel plus the airfare...unless I get massive goodies like free food etc...

AND I prefer to be on the strip.

Any suggestions?

What are the poker rates @ Bellagio or Mandalay Bay or MGM etc...

Any thoughts?

I think expedia sucks. Don't book through them unless you know for certain you won't have to change any of your plans. I just got back from Vegas and stayed at the New Frontier (I guess calling it "new" makes it seem like less of a shithole). My dad was in town also and stayed at Bally's for $55/night.

I've been asking around for similar Vegas advice.

I stayed at Imperial Palace last year, didn't like it. I'm considering the Golden Nugget this year, the place located downtown, closer to Binion's. You pretty much have to catch a cab to get on the main strip from there. Priceline.com has comparable prices, travelzoo.com has last minute deals I think.

Why is this the wrong forum?

If this is the wrong forum to ask about where to play in Vegas
then please tell me what the right forum is? I've seen hurdreds of post asking about the current conditions in vegas
in this forum.

When you look at your overall costs for Vegas, the thing that really eats up a lot of cash is the hotel room. Sure you can get a comp rate if you play many hours of poker in one room, but part of the fun of vegas is hopping from pokerroom to another room. Plus there are tons of things to see/do besides poker. Package deals (flight+hotel) never save you that much cash. I know Southwest certainly offers some decent package deals.

If you find a cheaper room, you'll just be spending less cash then needed per day. My advice, find a cheaper room (like Orleans, or somewhere near binions in downtown freemont street) and just get a rental car. If you are going in a group, the cost of the rental will not be that much. If you want to go drink, just take a cab that time.

When it comes down to it, how important is it for you to have a nice room compared to a decent room?

Try here:

http://www.americawestvacations.com/index.html

Hotel and Airfare packages at all the strip hotels. I've found some fantastic deals here due to the large number of choices.
