What to do with misdeals?
 

I had a hand the other day where I got screwed out of a lot of chips. I have 10-2 off suit and I'm the big blind. I limp in and flop a 2. My friend to the left bets 500 chips (a hefty bet) everyone folds except the player to my right. But just as I am about to fold the dealer shows the next card, forgetting I was in the hand. The next card happenned to be a 2, giving me trips. I obviously call the 500. So when betting started on the turn my friend bet more, the other guy called, and I raised all in, but just as I said "all in," the idiot dealer showed the last card, a 10, giving me a full house. The runner of the tournament wanted to call the hand dead, and I had to scream at him for 5 minutes and reveal that I had a full house and refuse to take my money out of the pot. When I told him this everyone obviously folded to my all in, I still made money, but shouldn't have even been in the hand after the flop, but what should be done with mistakes like that?

looks like it still worked out in your favor - you had no business getting any chips on that hand till you saw the turn card -

that card should have been burned, waited for you to act(fold) then turn over the next card

As far as honesty goes, you should have said something when you first saw the 2 and said that it would make your hand. This would have avoided the anger and screaming. And not only that, but it would have made people like you more, which means that you would be invited to more games. If people think you'll cheat whenever you can, then people trust you less and will want to play with you less. Although it's the dealers fault and you may have won some chips, it makes you look a certain way.

At my homes games, if the dealer misdeals, we re-shuffle and start the hand over again. No point in giving anyone a reason to get upset. Losing money makes poker emotional enough, so it's better to keep the games enjoyable and honest.

In this situation I would've kicked the [censored] out of you.

As it happend I would've either said nothing or warned the other player that that card made my hand and that I was going all in on the turn and he could call at his own discretion if he wanted to. However I think the correct ruling is to show everyone the exposed card and burn it, in which case I'm assuming you'd fold on that flop.

Well first this is a dealer problem. It isn't very hard to ensure action is completed before dealing the next card, so tell him to pay attention.

Second, I think you should have folded on the flop, because it was the action you would have done if you hadn't seen the card. Just tell the dealer to make sure to pay attention, and muck your cards without saying anything.

Actually the proper way to fix this (the method that is done by most casinos), is to reshuffle the turn card back into the deck, and deal out another turn card. (this way it is still possible that the original turn card could be dealt out again).
