If you say hello to me at the tables....

Would you please tell me who you are so I can say hi back..... It happens sooooo often that people say hi from names I've never seen before.

Also, what's the official manner in questioning someone if they visit 2+2. Do we have a secret handshake?

old school:
"does the brown trout sleep in the closet?"
"aye, she does."

new school:
Sup bro?

"The brown trout sleeps in the closet"
response "Aye."

this means you are part of 2+2. Seriously.

Do a search for 'brown trout'

it's also in the FAQ's here in the internet-forum.

I'm not typically into chatting at the tables though with known 2+2'ers....will do it sometimes...but that's kinda what the forums are for. Nice to know who to be careful with though.

My chat at the tables is usually going to be of the "any two can win variety" and other nonsense.

Couple guys laid down to my all-in and asked what i had...my response was:
"72 offsuit"
"or AA"
"i always get those two hands mixed-up"

Anyway...I've never said hi to death-valley on the tables (probably because I haven't been playing much NL-ring lately)...but just in case I do I'll identify myself ahead of time.
I'm Bob.

My party username is the same as my 2+2 handle and i get this all the time. It sucks so I usually use my alternate skins (I have a rakeback on eurobet with an anonymous username) to play the bulk of my games. I usually only play as droolie when I'm clearing a reload or if I'm at a 2+2 table.

Whatever you do don't say 2+2 in the chat box. There is a secret handshake that I hate and will not tell you because it sucks and freaks out players who don't know what it means.

Lately 2+2 players have been asking, "sup bro?" to which the correct reply is "sup" or "sup bro" or "sup bro?" Use that if you have to use anything. it's probably better not to ask at all at the table. I really prefer when someone sends me an invite to another table and tells me who they are in the text of the invite. "Hey this is 2+2 droolie I'm in seat 6 at your 21134 table" is how I do it.

The trick is mixing it in with other conversation. Here's an example from Party $1/2 last night:

IsaacW: XXXXXXXX, do you watch sealab 2021?
XXXXXXXX: no, what's that?
IsaacW: so, you don't know who sup bro is?
XXXXXXXX: no, sorry.
2+2er: i do, 15 tackles for a loss, right?
IsaacW: yeah, i think he was all county.
XXXXXXXX: so, IsaacW, were you going to make a point?
IsaacW: no, not really, your name relates to the show sealab
XXXXXXXX: oh, when is it on?
IsaacW: late nights
IsaacW: on cartoon network
...

i think the beauty of the sup bro "secret handshake" is that any number of responses will do. for example, possible responses to "sup bro?":

sup bro
sup breaux
1995
all-county
15 tackles for a loss
etc.

I've heard 'sup bro' a few times recently and had precisely zero idea what it was about so I ignored it.

Edit: Guess that makes me old school, but I've never seen it posted before.

True.

Other acceptible replies.

"Not much. Do you see why?"

"Nothing and it's not even close."

I like these, anyone can respond "sup" to someone saying "sup bro?" This unequivocally identifies one as a 2+2'er.
