TOUCHY touchpad on new dell laptops

A buddy and I both just got new inspiron 9300's (mine new from dell, his new from ebay)

We have BOTH noticed that if the pointer is hovering over an action box, like bet, check, or fold, (both playing on party) while we are deliberating, it does something weird. . .

Sometimes, if we are merely touching the left click button lightly (certainly too lightly to click it) the computer goes ahead and does whatever the pointer is hovering over, WITHOUT ACTUALLY CLICKING ON IT!!!.

Till we each realized it was happening to the other, we each thought it was just a quirk, or a short. Now that we realize the other is experiencing it as well, (not everytime, not even predictably - just sort of randomly) - - -is any one else having this experience??

Are you sure you dont have "tapping enabled" on the actual touchpad itself?

That sounds like the problem to me.

Re: TOUCHY touchpad on new dell laptops

Goto start, then control panel, then printers and other hardware, then click on mouse, go into your touch pad settings, and click on tapping, uncheck the box that enables tapping, click apply, then OK.

That should fix your problem. If once you restart your computer tapping is auto-enabled again, you will have to download the most recent drivers. Let me know if you need them.
