river value bet too thin?

villain has stats of 52/8/.6 and although they they scream loose passive he is fond of blind stealing.

15/30 online 6 handed

hero has K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the big blind

3 folds to villain on the button who raises, sb folds and hero calls

flop; 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

hero check calls

turn; J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

hero check raises

river; A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

hero bets

I like the bet if you can fold to a raise.

I would often check/raise the flop, but your line is good also. I like check/calling the river against an aggressive opponent will often bet the river as bluff if you check when an Ace hits.

If he's passive enough that you can fold to a raise (and you should most likely) then bet fo sho. Look at it this way, you aren't checkfolding, if you check you allow him to play almost perfectly, and you definitely aren't losing more than one bet. There's no downside to betting here.
