Thinking about investing in stocks but have questions

Hi. I don't own any stock books yet but I'm thinking of investing in stocks. What could a person do with $15K in the stock market over the course of a year ?

I was thinking more along the lines of a low risk investment where the money would be in there the whole year. How much could I earn in interest off of $15K ? Could I earn $2K in interest ? If not, how much would I need to earn $2K to $5K in interest. Thanks.

Various interest rates - I assume you can do the math.

Sure, if you know what you're doing. How much time have you allocated for this $2K return? You REALLY need to further explain your objectives.
