Party 10+1, ITM, shortstack, A5s in SB...

Wasn't really sure what to do here... Comments, guidance sought.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (3 handed) converter

Button (t3450)
JerseyTom (t1930)
BB (t2620)

Preflop: JerseyTom is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Button folds, JerseyTom ???

1. calls
2. raises (if so how much?)
3. folds
4. pushes

If 1 or 2, what do you do if raised by BB?

If 1 or 2 and BB does not raise, what's your plan on the flop?

Thanks,

Tom

I think that this is an easy push.

I agree that this is an easy push, especially if UTG folds. You are a favorite against most random hands the big blind could have, in fact I would likely be hoping he had KQ or so and would give you a chance to double up.

OK, thanks for the feedback guys.

I thought pushing was the correct play as well. Clearly A5s is too good to fold this late, even a min-raise puts 31% of my chips in and calling is the worst of all.

All that said, I here's how I completely butchered this...

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (3 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

Button (t3450)
Hero (t1930)
BB (t2620)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Button folds, Hero raises to t750, BB calls t450.

Flop: (t1500) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t750, BB calls t750.

Turn: (t3000) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t430 (All-In), BB calls t430.

River: (t3860) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t3860

Results in white below:
Hero has As 5s (one pair, aces).
BB has 8s Ks (straight, jack high).
Outcome: BB wins t3860.

While I think BB's call both pre-flop and on the flop are terrible (if he's going to play this, he should push in both cases... anyone agree?), I clearly missed my chance pre-flop.
