What\'s a reasonable Level One VPIP?
 

I'm at 23.91% right now (though strangely, 18.75% in level 2). I'm trying to tighten up, but it's difficult for me not to play KQo, Axs, suited connectors/near connecters, and small pairs when a good flop might pay me off.

What do you think the optimimum VPIP for early levels is?

Mine is between 10 and 12, and 4 of that is from the SB.

You really have to fold these hands (not small pairs). KQo, often KQs, KJ, QJ are all not worth it; they make 2nd best hands soooo often. Suited aces and suited connectors are even more dangerous. The whole point of these early rounds is to let the other guys piss their chips away and leave yourself with enough of a stack to play the bubble correctly. By playing these hands (under most circumstances) you'll join them, at least I have in my experience with them.

This is really dependant on how good you are postflop.

Mine is 11.

If you are good postflop you can limp suited connectors aftera few people have entered the pot... gotta be careful with KQo though.

You're laying these down from EP, right? The more limps to you in LP, the more hands you can play. The more folds to you in LP, the more hands you can play. I think that's the key to L1 preflop play.

How do you get level 1 info from PT? I can only choose less than/equal to 15/30.

15/30 is level 1 ... PT was designed for limit so the 1st number is always the size of the Big Blind

This is true about any hand in NL. So just play everything and you should be OK. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Seriously, there are some successful 2+2ers who are loose early and some who are tight early. Largely a matter of style and of postflop skill.

I like to think I'm successful (not very successful, just decent) and my VP$IP in levels 1 and 2 on stars (basically level 1 for you) is about 21%.

mine is 18%.

im pretty comfortable with the hands i play.

you need to fold those types of hands from EP. they are fine to play from LP.

think about position more and you will tighten up. its not a coincedence that each position is progressively more profitable. a lot of people will limp with AQ early. think about that before you limp with AJ or AT from EP. If you hit an A on the flop in an unraised pot, will you be able to get away from it?
