Dell Configuration

I can't seem to get my Dell configured correctly. I have set a $1300 cap and I need to get the following:

Dell 9300 17" with UXGA
1GB RAM
Notebook Expansion Dock (could this be purchased cheaper elsewhere?)
Windows XP (do I need this instead of Windows Media Center?)
Microsoft Office Basic
Some type of Security Suite w/ Firewall, Virus, and Spyware Protection
DVD Burner

I've got coupons from www.gottadeal.com...any other ideas?

You could use freeware/open source for the security software and/or office suite.

It seems he wants a laptop built for him, not putting one together by himself. The reason he wants the dell is so he can 4 table with no overlap, and I don't think you could build a compuuter like that on the site you listed.

None of them have the 1900x1200 resolution the dell 9300 has.

A little rough research seems to show that prices are about equivalent for notebooks between this site and dells, and I'm way more comfortable buying from dell.

I'm also in the market for a new laptop, and I really screwed up on my last purchase, so I'd be very interested to see what other people think. I assume someone on this forum's spent a good amount of time messing around with dell's very complicated pricing system and discovered something. Care to share?

I own an Inspiron 6000 when I found a good deal on SlickDeals (http://www.slickdeals.net). Just monitor that site like a hawk and pick up a good laptop deal ($750 off $1500 is usually your best bet).

Do you know anything about Dell Outlet computers? Do the coupons work on the computers sold at the outlet?
