Laptop Four tabling - Requirements?
 

I'm about to buy a new laptop and I'm having trouble finding out what I specifically need to be able to 4-table with no (or at least minimal) overlap.

What size/type screen would be the minimum and what resolution would be needed? what type of videocard?

I will use this computer primarily for poker and getting on the internet. No gaming or anything like that.

If any of you have suggestions on specific laptops that would be great, too.

You'll need 1600x1200 resolution for 4-tabling without overlap.

One more question - So 1600x1200 resolution will be enough, regardless of screen size?

Or do I need a minimum size screen along with that?

Size is irrelevant. The tables are specifically 800x600 pixels. They will appear larger to the eye on a 19" screen than a 17" screen, assuming both screens are set at 1600x1200. But they will still be 800 pixels by 600 pixels.

I'm considering this purchase as well - since I think my desktop could be in trouble. I didn't even know laptops came in 1600X1200. Any specific recommendations on actual brands/models?

Any reason to go with a desktop instead, besides price? I have a NEC flat screen 17", but not 1600 x 1200 rez. Maybe I should sell it and get a hi rez monitor.

What's the optimal setup for 4 tabling?

I really wish I could upgrade my video card to play CoD2 but I can't. It's a laptop.

I do sit here on my couch all the time though, so I'll take old laptop over CoD2.

I don't have a laptop so I can't recommend anything. Price and screen size would be the advantages of PC for me. You aren't going to get 19" or 20" screens w/ your laptop. I do zero gaming so performance/video card upgrades are not an issue.

There is also the multi-monitor issue, but I guess you can do that with a laptop as well.

If you aren't dead set on LCD, I got a Samsung 19" flat CRT about a year ago for $200 and it does 1600x1200 w/ great quality. Only thing is that these (or equivalent) seem to be very hard to find now, since everyone is selling LCDs.
