My one interesting hand in a short 6.78 VPIP session (A8s SB)

I've played with villain once before. He's known to be aggressive postflop and loose passive preflop. Here's a note from the previous session with him (if anything in my notes is unclear, just ask):

Limp 34s MP, B/3-bet vs. my K-R 566 f, K 8 t, bluff 7 r - I had K5o BB

Also in this session, I picked up another interesting note:

Willing to bet river after passivity (bluff? value bet?)
= Limp KQo SB, K 637d f, K A t, B A r - lost to J7o

For the hand itself, how do you feel about the turn bet?

Your line looks okay...but I might have just checked and called the entire way (or at least 4th and 5th if he called my flop bet).

Seeing as you bet out the flop and turn I think you should have bet the river and if he raised it back folded. he likely would just call anyways or even better - fold.. I think without betting the river you're not giving him that final chance to fold and it also exposes your hand, showing weakness, that gives him a chance to bet hoping to get you to fold to his bluff.

is he going to fold a pair heads up for one more bet on the river after calling all the way? I think he won't.

I can't really make sense of your notes, but it looks like he might be the loose/aggressive/likes to bluff type.

likes to bluff type.

This is the key part of the read. Explains why I like check/calling so much.

Notes explained

Taking good notes is very important to your development as a player. You learn to spot behaviors and figure out how to manipulate your opponents. It also helps you to remember players and past actions, too.

[/ QUOTE ]

I noticed a typo in these notes, so I've corrected them here.

Villain overlimped somewhere in MP with 43s preflop. I have K5o in the BB. The flop came 566. It was checked to him, and he bet. I check-raised him, and he 3-bet it. I just called the 3-bet. The turn came with a 9, I checked-he checked. The river 8 came, I check, he bet, I called. His river bet was a bluff and I took the pot.

Willing to bet river after passivity (bluff? value bet?)

[/ QUOTE ]

The comment I have here was that I'm not sure if he thought his bet was a value bet, or if he was bluffing. He completed with KQo in the small blind. The action was checked around with a 763 flush draw flop. It was checked around again when an ace fell on the turn. When the ace paired on the river he, he bet out. He lost to J7o who picked off his bluff.

These notes greatly influenced my play against villain.

If he folds, I had him beat anyway. But there aren't many hands better than mine which will fold. So I don't see how much there is to gain by betting here.

Good. That was my plan. The river is a scare card, putting 4 to a straight on the board.

If that was your plan to have him bluff at you then why did you just call and not raise? Makes no sense to me...
