Consoling a friend

My friend and his wife of 9 years got into a big fight last night. He came and stayed over here. He went home this morning and they broke up for good. He's obviously very upset and distraught. He's coming back over here right now. I have no idea what to say or do besides get drunk (my solution for everything). Also, they have an 8 year old that she is taking with her back to her parents house about 12 hours away. Any tips guys? Ideas?

Thanks

Ouch. That really sucks.

There's really nothing you can say or do in these situations, except offer your company. Talk to him if he wants to talk, if not just sit there and watch TV or whatever.

I advise against the drinking because there is no way it's going to turn out well. Drinking in these situations is not a good idea.

First thing that came to mind. We are both too broke to really enjoy ourselves at a strip club though

You and him should just get drunk and drive around your block squeeling your tires and doing 360s

We did that 3 nights ago. I almost got a DUI.

Good call, it's on the list. I'll have to wait till it gets darker though.

24 hours later, and he won't be thinking about his wife anymore.

Too many lawsuits.

I'm going the Phillip Morris route nowadays.
