Turn decisions with a gut shot with 2 examples.

My buddy and I have been trying to get better at turn decisions in position. I understand the idea of check with outs, bet without outs. But what about if you are in between? FWIW I see hand 1 as a check and hand 2 as a bet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see arguements for the exact opposite.

Hand 1-No Read
Absolute 2/4 6 Handed
Preflop
Hero is Button with J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
3 Folds, Hero Raises, 1 Fold, BB Calls
Flop
5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls
Turn
Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB checks, Hero ???

Hand 2-SB is weak tight
Absolute 2/4 6 handed
Hero is Button with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Preflop
3 folds, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls
Flop
A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds
Turn
7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB checks, Hero ???

I bet 1 before I bet 2

you have a WT player calling your flop bet on A99r board - look out

hand 1 you at least have a gutshot and 2 "overcards" to back up a bet

I probably check them both though

Small pots weak hands. I think putting more money in on the turn in either of these cases is a mistake. Hand 2 especially since people love to bluff c/r that kind of board.
