interesting hand

This was at party, 400nl 6max. I have villan covered, he has about 400. Im new to the table, so no real reads. Folded to me on the button and I make it 15 with 53 suited. Villan calls in BB.

Flop comes A35 rainbow. Villan checks, I bet 25 into 32 pot. Villan calls. Turn is a 9 (rainbow I think). Villan checks, I bet 65 into the pot, villan moves allin for about 295 more.

w/o a strong read, fold? can you call off all your chips here with bottom two? If villian was on tilt or something like that maybe call...

Re: interesting hand

fold that easy? With me having bottom two, a set is much less likely no?

Re: interesting hand

im a lot more worried about aces up than a set.

Re: interesting hand

also just want to add that any a at all has 8 outs, and a2 or a4 has 12 outs, so even if ahead villain is drawing pretty live and if you are behind its 4 outs, 2 outs or dead.

Re: interesting hand

Villain can clearly beat top pair. The lowest hand that beats top pair is bottom two. So unless he has the exact same hand as you, you're crushed.

You're an unknown and he's put about the strongest move in poker on you: call PF. call flop. c/r turn all-in.

You know he might have 24o, that's the preflop nuts, trust me. Always hits the flop. ;]

I think it's a fold anyway. That's sucha strong reraise, without reads at least.

so pot is around 500, and you have to call about 300.

assuming you have 4 outs, your EV in calling is around .09 of pot. so your EV for calling in this spot is -300 + .09(800) = -228.

assuming opponent has 8 outs, your EV in calling is around .72 of pot. EV for calling is -300 + .72(800) = +276

that means your EV for the call is p(-228) + (1-p)(276)= 276-504p, where p is when villain is ahead. so if villain is ahead more than 54% of the time, then fold.

do ppl in this spot usually have aces up? i don't really see many ppl calling suited aces oop, A3s/A5s/A9s unless they're on the loosish side, and a set is kind of fishy, considering you got most of the low board on the flop and AA will usually reraise. i think you see AK/AQ type of hand enough to call here, with people "protecting" TPTK...but then again it's more of your read on the guy.

you must not go to showdown very often, or just not steal blinds very often. i see this all the damn time.

Re: interesting hand

plus, hero is button raising, and then continuation betting, there's reason to believe that villain may think hero is weak, or not stronger than a TPTK type hand that can release. depends on how hero has been playing as well i suppose.

I don't see AK/AQ played like that hardly ever.

This definitely looks like aces up. I don't see AK/AQ played like this too often.

I'm folding here, yes tons of villans call with Ax suited out of position. NL400 is full of these loose oop callers.

I rarely see AK move in like this, usually prefer to call you down hoping you have a lesser ace.
