Vegas Dec. 26th-30th...... dead or crazy??????

I've heard posters say Vegas is dead around Christmas time, and then real crazy after Christmas. Is this true? A friend asked me to go to Vegas with him. The possible dates being: Dec. 18th-23rd, and Dec. 26th-30th. What's it like around these times? We are both 23, and would like to gamble, party, etc... Worth going at these times, or should we wait for a better time to go?

Dead Dec. 18th-23rd. The slowest period of the entire year in Vegas.

Dec. 26th-30th is exactly opposite. Things start to get nuts throughout the week, and by the 31st there are literally 300,000 visitors in town. Usually the busiest day of the year.

At least now they have the rodeo in December. And several properties market like hell to bring in Asian guests (who don't celebrate Christmas, I guess, and aren't feeling their budgets squeezed in December).

It must've been a helluva lot worse before these two developments.

Thats the same week I am going down, my dad insisted that it would be a slow time of year and how he could get a great deal on air/room. But once his choice travel agencys around town were charging $450+ for air/room he was begging me and my brother to whore out some online prices.

We ended up getting $330 for 4 nights and air each (taxes and fees included). The hotel isn't all that great, it is off the strip but my brother was boasting how he found a (better) deal with the Lady Luck downtown for $275 but before we could take a look at it, it was sold out.

There isn't any big conventions going on (atleast not that I know of) but by any means it doesn't mean it will be dead.

I have been several times during this exact period. It was usualy nuts. Lot of fun toward new years eve but the two times I stayed for new years, I regretted it.

This will be absolutely insane; maybe close or worse than Thanksgiving Friday. I just wish I could be there to play in some of those games.

I was in Vegas Dec 24 to Dec 27 a few years ago and here's a three word recap of what I witnessed: LOTS OF ASIANS. The usual overweight American tourists were fewer in number, but not entirely absent.

I'll be there, staying at Monte Carlo, the 26th-28th. We're going to see seinfeld and I was afraid the place would be dead, but hopefully there will be a lot of tourists and bad players.
