I really hope you're not giving cash to anyone close to you. Thats a real dick move. I also hope you didn't think "suck" would be censored.

"svck" is how you spell suck in latin.

A year or so ago I decided that all my gifts from then on would be books. An afternoon in borders is fun (for me at least) and they are usually pretty personal and thoughtful.

Even if they aren't big reading fans you can find something to suit them.

i've been doing this for a while as well, but for some reson i don't think evan will be a fan....

SonicCare toothbrushes rule!
But my family has them already (or at least had them at one point and didn't like them).

Some of my people read this forum, so I can't post all my gifts here, but here are some things I got:

Toaster/egg poacher thing (available at Target and Amazon) for my mom who loves toast and poached eggs. She actually put it on her Amazon wish list heh
Cash for a father who needs it. With sentimental card.
Earrings for my sister.

Handmade goods are always good gifts. If you have a bit of craft in you or a crafty friend, go that route. Warning - takes time. If I had my act together sooner, I would have been giving out crafts this year. Alas...

I personally love subscription gifts. Magazines are cool, satellite radio is awesome, netflix is good (but you should go for a full year).

Gifts I received that I loved:
National parks pass
digital camera
iPod
concert tickets
and sentimental things

FWIW I would much rather receive cash than any purchased gift. I feel like most gifts received (unless specifically asked for) tend to suck or I could have bargin-shopped for a better deal on the net.

There's nothing worse than putting on that happy face on the outside when unwrapping a sucky gift. Talk about a true p*ker face.

If you have to fake gratitude when receving a gift, even if it's something you don't like, you have some serious growing up to do.

tony , im confused about your view of what exchanging gifts is about. could you explain? (im not being critical, just trying to understand where youre coming from)

btw, why would you have to fake gratitude if the gift was something you liked?

$100-$130. They're terrific. One thing is that either baking soda or peroxide toothpaste is bad news on these. I dunno which (I used to use a toothpaste with both) but I learned the hard way.
