If Villain is really semibluffing, then he has outs. Checkraising builds the pot so that he has better, or even correct, odds to call your raise. Donking gives him a chance to make a bigger mistake by calling on the turn. And you'd rather not have to face a 3-bet if he has a real hand.

Controlling pot size is something I need to do some more thinking about after having recently run across it in HEFAP and HGIYLHE.
