5-5 live

live 5-5 at turning stone casino
effective stack 575

villian is a solid tricky player

hero dealt K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in CO

3 limpers hero makes it 35
villian thinks in BB, seems to ponder a raise and calls
others fold
Flop($80) Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
villian checks hero bets 40, villian calls then checks ths turn blind

Turn($160) 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
villian had checked blind, hero checks

River($160) K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
villian checks, hero bets $100 villian instantly pushes all in. Its $400 for me to call.

How do u play this differently? Do you call on the river?

I'm pretty sure I'd call here...though I'm gonna guess the guy had QQ or KK lol

I might check the flop. I also might play it exactly the same way you did. I also might check the river. I may call or I may fold on the end. Hope this post was helpful.

This confuses the hell out of me, I'm not going to lie.

When do people do this? The only time I ever do it is calling a raise from the SB in a multiway pot.. and only on the flop.

Re: 5-5 live

The only thing reasonable I see villian having that makes any sense is KK. I don't see him havig QQ, and the small set is a possibility, but two pair on this board is pretty solid. It's such a big over bet here though and he likely puts you on some kind of AQ, KQ, AA type hand I thinks you may not get away from it. I think I wait for another spot until I have a better read on villian. It's very borderline in my mind. If he's real tricky and likes making moves, he could be on a complete bluff.

FWIW I think QQ is most likely. Then AA. Then KK.

2 of the queens are accounted for, and two of the kings. I would think a set or busted straight draw would be more likely. If villain is really a "solid player" what is he doing check/calling his bullets all the way down?

Nope. I bet a nickle he had KK. Care to take me up?

Why do you check a set in the dark and make yourself look strong? You said he's tricky and I can easily see him having KK here and taking the risk of and Ace flopping. At least that's what I'd do in order to throw you off and take down a bigger pot. AA is my second guess here.
