What does the color of phlegm signify?

I went to the doctor yesterday. One of the qs he asked me was what color my phlegm was. I said it was greeny/yellow but mainly green. I was eventually diagnosed with bronchitis and pilled up. Woke up this morning and the color has without a doubt changed. It is 100% yellow now, no hint of green. What does this mean?

Thanks.

Dean

If it's clear, white, or pale, the infection may still be viral, and antibiotics may not be necessary. If it's yellow, green, brown, or bloody, or if you are having fevers, chills, chest pains, or have other health problems, you might need antibiotics.

Colour is important, but if left to stand for an hour, a thick creamy consistency on the tongue and a salty taste signifies infection too.
