straddling the BB

Ive only played with this system once, and it was in a live. I wanted to hear the opinions of the top players on this site. Do you like games that offer these, do you use them, or exploit other people who do? In what circumstances is it pos EV,if any? Any other information about it would be appreciated. TY.

I am a frequent straddler, and I do it mostly because I find it useful as a way of promoting a loose table image, and loosening up the game, in general.

so its more of a metagame thing? as in, in a vacuum for one hand against unknown opponents, its neg EV?

Yeah. Just like posting the BB is neg EV.

The times when you pick up a hand cancel out a lot of the negness, though.

UTG posts double the BB before looking at his cards.

When the action gets to him, he has a live blind.

Re: straddling the BB

As a tangent, is double straddling a standard thing?

I recently started straddling a bit and the guy on my left would always double straddle me.
If not standardish, what does this say about him, and what he thinks about me?

Re: straddling the BB

Double straddling is usually allowed at any room that allows straddling (from my experience), although it is used much less frequently.

All it really says about him is that he's there to gamboool, and have some fun.

I don't think it says anything about what he thinks about you, unless he looks pissed and gives you a dirty look every time he does it. In this case, it means that he thinks you're a douchebag.
