Preflop: apart from some very specific player/positional circumstances, min-raising as the first raiser is donkenian.
Postflop: min-raise is holding up a large yellow sign that says "use caution".

from donkish players this is usually a small/mid PP or a SC. from mousey ones it could be AA-QQ who's afraid of not getting action. either way, i treat min-PFR as a limp.

it does have the effect of cutting stacks in half, so think about that before calling/raising...

I've never seen a non-donk minraise preflop in any game up to the 3/6 blind game on Party (and I only have limited experience in the 3/6 game, primarily I'm in the 1/2 and 2/4 games). You would not get yourself in trouble if you just assumed anybody who minraised preflop at small stakes was a donk.

Hmmmm, this thread has me thinking...I never min-raise (and usually just treat them like limps), but maybe I'll start doing it occasionally for cheap advertising purposes.....

What I do is watch what they end up showing down and noting it. These raises can mean anything from hands like 77 and KJs to monsters like AA and KK (some awful players like to "milk" their good hands by juicing up the pot preflop raising 2x BB). So note what they raised with and then you can at least be prepared the next time.

Why would you type anything in the box and alert the bad player to what they are doing?

I *hate* it when other players do that.

It won't work. Anybody paying attention to the fact that you minraised at all will notice the rest of your play, too. Unless you're talking about playing like ass for several hands, including some minraising, you won't fool anybody.
