Online poker on Christmas and New Years Day?

Last year at this time I wasn't playing online.

What do you think will happen on a Sunday that is Christmas?
New Years Day?

Will traffic die?
Remember all those football games/parties on New Years day.

oh come on, spend time with your family, then get wasted.

There's more to life than poker.

It's a holiday...holidays are usually pretty busy.

I think we had some similar Q's last year on Super Bowl Sunday and as I recall the poker-games picked up quite a bit as the game was winding down and people were coming back home (perhaps a bit plastered) from various Super Bowl parties.

On XMas...I can very much see the games will be pretty hoppin'...especially in the evening.
People don't spend the WHOLE freaking time bonding with their families.
And some people are buying new computers for XMas too and will want to try them out.

My hunch would be the same for New Year's Day. As people wake-up and recover from their New Year's eve hangovers they'll just be lounging about the house playing on the internet.

You'd be surprised at how crowded the live casinos get on Christmas night. People spend the day with their families...and then get bored and have nothing to do.

It's quite a busy day for the live casinos in Tunica, Mississippi where I play (not sure how crowded it is in Vegas...without a lot of tourists around I don't think they get too excessively crowded).

I'd be curious how many people out there are actually playing on New Year's Eve (which most certainly will not be including me).

Then it doesn't matter what he does, he's going to HELL unless he takes Jesus as his Lord and Personal Saviour.

You should realize that at least Pokerstars is expecting a very light christmas day, they changed there $500 buy in $750,000 guaranteed tourny to a $100,000 added tourny.

They took away the guarantee and figured they would lose less $$ by just giving away a free $100,000.

At least thats how I see it.

Yeah, they gave a bunch of their dealers the day off, too. But they do plan to stay open. Even if it snows.

I have this mental image of loners playing on Christmas day, blowing 200 bucks at 3/6 SH, realising they are unloved and life is futile, drinking a bottle of cheap scotch and then taking 100 extra strong pain-killers. I don't wanna be the guy taking their money that day, so I'll pass.

I was kinda hoping he'd blow more than $200 before killing himself. But if he brings enough people each throwing $200 my way I guess it's ok.

Good thing we celebrate christmas eve here in Sweden, so I can get quality time both with my family and with sad, lonely, drunk americans the following day.

Last year I was only playing on Pacific, so grains of salt should be taken liberally. But the evening of the 25th and all day of the 26th were terrific. New Year's Eve was pretty decent during the day, dried up a little in the evening, and then went totally mad about 12:30 ET which carried pretty much all the way through New Year's Day.

Hey! I resent that. I only drink good scotch, not the cheap stuff!

I know my play will probably be up a little on New Years and down a little on Christmas. Up a lot on New Years if I can help it.

I must admit that last year at the stroke of midnight, New Years Eve I was playing poker online.

Our kids were 2 and 10 months. My wife was exhausted and sleeping, and I spent the night playing poker. It was alright. It could possibly end up that way again this year.

Apart from the kids (mine are 6 and 2) ages, thats been my last couple of new years eves too!

And I have no reason to suspect this year will be any different - trying to get babysitters that night is pretty much mission impossible!

correct.

the original sentence is confusing in structure...but he is agreeing with you and actually IS saying that the majority of the world is NOT christian.

would have made more sense (been slightly less likely to be confused) if he said,
'what if he is a non-christian....as is the case for most of the world?

You 18 - 28 year olds should and need to go out NYE.

Those of us over 30 have partied enough on NYE to justify staying in.

I discovered in my mid 20's that one of the best days to ski is Jan 1st. So I watch the ball drop on TV at 10:00 MST then go to bed. On New Years Day there is NO traffic and NO lift lines. I see no point in celebrating New Years Eve. Too many drunks in the bars and on the road. Besides, it's really just another day, really...

I don't know...I recall last Christmas being very busy. I couldn't even get a table the waiting lists were so long.

Then again, I think Stars was doing some 1 billionth hand promotion at that time, so that might have been why.
