Variance and my lucky charm

I have a lucky charm I keep on the table. It's been with me through ups and downs and evens. Not really lucky in the sense that it helps my draws hit or my Top pair hold up through 84 players. Just lucky in that it reminds me of someone now gone, whose thoughts have helped me remain focused on everything I ever did.

It reminds me not to get cocky when things are going great.
It reminds me not to get discouraged when things are looking bad.
It reminds me that everything in the middle is reality, and how far up the middle goes depends on upon me and what I'm willing to put into something.
It reminds me to never blame others, but to take responsibility for my own actions.
It reminds me to keep calm and levelheaded, even in the worst of times.

Pretty Lucky.

Thank you Dad.

I like your definition of "luck," and your Dad sounds like quite a guy.
