Accused of being noob....am I THAT bad?
 

This is driving me crazy. I just cracked aces with 9 7 off under the big blind...the transcript follows. But the victim accuses me of noob playing and rants about bad play etc. Not that I'm thinned skinned, but am I missing something here. Am I a big fish and just don't know it?

My response was that he slow played his aces from the start and he should get beat without trying to chase off the crap like I was holding.

First, never apologize for having the better hand. Thats just silly. Particularly where he played his own hand soooo abysmally.

Second, of course you played the hand fine. This is some kind of weird reverse bad beat story or something.

Only thing you're missing is the chk/rz on the turn.

BTW, I get accused of noobism all the time. Ironically, it usually comes after a well-thought out call or play.

Without even reading the content, I'll let you know that I get called a noob/moron/idiot at least 2-3 times per day.

Ok, I'm feeling a little better...thought I was loosing it. You're right on the check raise, but I thought he might fold away what I thought was a couple of high cards or Ace x.

Personally, I like the 'I'm sorry' line. It reenforces his opponent's opinion that he is a good player who played the hand well and the OP is a bad player who played the hand badly. That's got to be good for future hands.

There's also a psychological aspect of it, I think, at least to a recreational player sitting at the table. OP paints himself as being "the nice guy", which I believe buys some folding equity in future hands. After all, nice guys wouldn't try to bluff, would they?

I apologize for "sucking out" routinely on the tables, even when it should be obvious to anyone present that my opponent misplayed his hand terribly. Honestly, I fail to see how anything bad could come out of that, at least in an online environment.
