it's hard to have a truly horrible beat playing hi/lo but the first one is horrible.

The first one isn't a bad beat. Bad beat means your opponent threw his chips in w/ virtually no chance and caught. In that hand, your opponent had a very strong hand. Against your range, I'd shove w/ his hand every time.

The second hand sucks, but you didn't even flop the nuts so quit crying.
