10-10-20: Kill it?

Blind structure is 10-10-20 (10 on the button) with a $40 bring-in. Cutoff has the option of killing the pot for $40, making the bring-in $80 and making him the last to act before the flop. Is this a +e.v. move? What game conditions should he/shouldn't he kill it? Stack sizes? Other factors?

Re: 10-10-20: Kill it?

Most importantly it's a function of stack size. If you are playing deep why would you ever NOT kill it? It only increases the chances of the button folding, you getting position, and builds a big pot with you in the driver's seat. No? I suppose you wouldn't kill it if the game was already so action packed that there was no reason to kill...

Edit: It will probably also do wonders for your image and from a purely math view point it's probably +ev if the button/SB/BB fold too much.

You're talking about the game at Lucky Chances correct? FYI, you can kill it from any position, except the button.

Yes, but obviously the best position to kill from is the cutoff. Let's start with that.

So it's a Mississippi straddle, eh? Can someone else re-straddle? If so, straddling loses some of its effect.

Anyway, if stacks are deep and the other players are passive (they're just coming in for the bring-in bet, not blasting you out of your straddle every time) it seems like a fine play in position.

The problem is that when you kill, you are putting in $40 blind, and you will have to put in another $40 just to see the flop. There is no possibility of limping. Also, most people in this game will open for at least $100 if you kill it.

There certainly are downsides of killing from the CO. I wouldn't want to kill if everyone had $1k on the table. You are basically going to have to put in 1/10th of the stacks just to see a flop with a random hand. If you are a

No. A mississippi straddle, the action starts to your left. In this case, the action still starts UTG, but then skips you and comes back to you after the BB.
