Dell/Samsung Flat Panel Monitor Questions

I went to the Dell website and looked at this 2001Fp for $534:

If I register here will I get $100 off of this price?

Are there any other coupons or discounts available?

And here is a link for a 2005fpw for $463. What is the difference between these two and does the 2005fpw go to 1600x1200 resolution. I didn't see anything about it under details.

Are these the best prices I can find? Has anybody bought one on EBAY?

And then there is this one coming out in January but I have no idea what resulution it's capable of or the price:

I also checked out the Samsung 213T, which is what I already have, and would prefer to get, but they are still pretty pricey. $850 was the lowest I could find. There were several on EBAY for around $500 with a day or so left on the bidding.

Of course if you buy over the net you have to pay shipping too. Do you get free shipping at Dell?

Thanks.

No but you can get a $45 off coupon there. Or you can try the coupon forum over at slickdeals.net

I did last week. I'm guessing they still offer it.

What is the lowest price anyone has paid recently for either of these two monitors?

On December 14th or so:

holiday discount of 20% off on the 2001FP, free shipping ($20 value), another 2% off for "using their Dell Preferred account" that I had instead of using a credit card, my total price was $493 something.

Just few weeks before (late November), I had gotten the 1st 2001FP using same idea as above, but there was a 15% off promotion at that time, so my total price for the 1st one was at $523 something.

I love having the two 2001FP's. A dream...

iirc:

the lowest the 2001fp has gone for is around 460 and it goes for that price regularly with coupons.

the 2005 doesnt have 1600x1200 resolution. even though its 20.5" its only like 1600x1050 or something like that.

the 30" flat panel that comes out january 5 will have 1600x2500 resolution or something similar and will basically be the same as having 2 2001fps side by side without the black line in the middle.

My personal experience is that people who see the Dell and the Samsung side by side buy the Samsungs. I did.
