Title: New Chip Leader -- Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken Doubles Through Patrik Antonius
Log: Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken raises preflop, Patrik Antonius reraises, and Dicken calls. The flop comes Js-7d-5d, Dicken bets out, and after a long period of thought, Antonius moves all in. Dicken immediately calls with 7c-5h (two pair). Antonius shows Kd-Jd (pair of jacks, flush draw), and he has a ton of outs to win this hand. The turn card is the 9h, and the river is the As. Antonius fails to improve, and Darrell Dicken doubles up in the biggest pot of the tournament to about $885,000 in chips.

Antonius took a huge hit on that hand, but he still has an above-average stack of about $412,000 in chips. But Darrell Dicken is the new chip leader!

I love how if anyone made either of these preflop moves in an $11 MTT, they are complete donks...but here they are geniuses. Its the grand ol' circle of life.

P.S. I'm not by any means saying that either of their moves were good or bad, just a poker social commentary.

And there it is. The stock reply in any gigabet thread. "If I made this move in my game, you'd all laugh at me, but he's gigabet."

This isn't poker commentary, it's a lack of understanding.

any of those preflop moves would be terrible in a sng. darrel wouldn't make them there either. there's just not enough chips.

i'm sure you understand that there's differences between deep stacked poker and not.

I think you missed my commentary. Its not "If I made this move in my game, you'd all laugh at me, but he's gigabet."

Its "If Gigabet made this move in an $11 MTT it'd probably be a donk move." Him making it in the WPT does have value.

Eh, I was gonna post a big expansion of my "commentary" but decided it wasn't really worth it. Do I understand all the moves Gigabet makes? By no means. But I am one of those in the Gigabet fan club and feel that his hand posts give the most insights into poker theory and touch on psychology and philosophy.

Edit: I shoulda just waited one minute before posting my original post...Degen said exactly what I wanted to say.

I haven't seen all the info on the hand such as exact stack and bet sizes, but I highly doubt this would be considered a donk move in a $11 MTT.

What part of this hand would be considered a donk move?

Preflop - there are times where raising 75 in a $11 MTT would be worthwhile, calling the reraise would make sense if the stacks are deep enough

Flop- how would you play this differently in a $11 MTT?

Re: Gigabet now leading Bellagio 5 Diamond Classic

I still want to know the amount of both preflop raises and the positions. I've found out over on the WPT board that the blinds were 1500/3000 with a 400 ante, and 47k in the pot preflop. No word on who was sitting where, what the two raises were, or Gigabet's postflop bet, or any history between the two/at the table.

Gigabet probably made the right move since he's gigabet... He could call 3 all ins on one hand with 23o and he probably would win and it would be the right move

There are still some big names within striking distance like Doyle, Dewey Tomko, Greenstein, Laak, however, I would be most concerned about Harmon's husband with his T110,000.

Giga prolly didn't even buy these clothes himself. He has people who take care of that for him.

Also, he rocks the gold chain b/c he may be young but has a soul from the old school.

villainaire,

How the F is your second post a quote of agreement?! SFB still doesn't even know how to quote yet alone quote with implied meaning.

Call by Cassidy

With the board showing 9s-6d-5d-Qh-Jd on the river, Joe Cassidy bets about $100,000 into a roughly $500,000 pot, and Patrik Antonius raises to $300,000. Cassidy makes an incredible call with Ad-7c (ace high). Sure enough, Antonius shows Ah-3d, and Cassidy's kicker plays to win the entire pot.

standard move?

you raise, villian reraises, you call. you flop 2 pair. why bet out? it's most likely he's going to do a continuation bet.

why not check raise instead of betting out?

The other side of the coin. From Pokerwire:

[ QUOTE ]

Darrell Dicken raised to 40k from the cutoff, Joanne 'J. J.' Liu raised to 120k, and Dicken called. The flop came K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Dicken checked, Liu bet 80k, and Dicken called. The turn came the 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Dicken bet 200k, and Liu called. The river came the 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Dicken pushed in, and Liu called all in for 591k. Darrell Dicken showed AQ for a pair of sixes with an ace kicker. Liu showed KK for kings full of sixes to double up.
