Anyone know how they do it? Skipping SB on party

I've been sitting here watching this guy names Zkayl at my table skip the small blind every round.

He posts the big blind, sits out for the small, and when he un-sits out after the button passes, he gets hands behind the button without posting.

Party support said they were aware of the situation and were working to fix it. which means nothing to me.

Anyone know how these guys are doing it?

I know if it has been raised and I time out in the BB it will have me sit out the next hand. Then, if you click I Am Back before the next hand after that is dealt, it brings you into the CO without posting. I am not sure if it works if you just choose to sit out the SB.

is not getting the button worth not posting the sb?

EDIT: personally, my button is worth .11bb. my expectation is the sb with posting is -.10bb. so it costs me money not to post the sb as long as the absolute value of the gain from the button > absolute value of the loss from the sb?

Seems like that would be pretty easy to figure out with PT. I make 0.15 bb every time its my button, in my small database, and lose 0.08 bb when i post my sb. So for me seems like it would be a tragedy to use that strategy. haha rhyme

This is only true for a good player. A bad player will easily loose to much in the sb and is thus cheating good players out of profit with this 'trick'.

are bad players sophisticated enough to :

1) figure out how to skip the sb?

2) realize it costs them more money to play the sb than to skip it?

3) give up their utility of gambling in the sb and button for what may appear to be small amounts of money?

to turn that right around, wouldnt a winning player look at his PT and come to the same realization we all just did?

It looks like this guy is either a marginal winner or marginal loser who thinks he plays well, from this sort of bayesianish analysis.

I've accidently done this a million times when i post the big blind my first time at a table but then forget to hit autopost and miss the small.

No, I believe a bad player is simply thinking: 'Wauw, I can get away with not posting the small blind!' I was simply pointing out that this can still be unfair angle shooting, even if it would be unprofitable for some of us.

When I want to grab a beer or something I always just sit out after my big blind and then rejoin the game when I get back. No trick to it at all as far as I know - and no small blind payment either. I've always thought everybody had the ability to do it.

Must say though that when opponents intentionlly do it every round it starts to get annoying. Like you're either playing or you're not - stop being a nit.

regardless of whether or not it would be aprofitable strategy for you to employ, it still costs you money when your oppenents do it.
you're paying more for a fewer number of hands each round.

An odd different situation happened to me. I was utg, I raise, folded to the big blind... he times out, he's sittin g out next hand and I'm.... the SMALL BLIND!? I skipped my big blind! That can't be right. And the positions are backwards heads up. Party needs to fix some things.

Re: Anyone know how they do it? Skipping SB on party

Guess it is debatable about whether this is +EV or not, but it sure is nice for the player to the left of the person who does this. He gets to skip the BB every orbit.

This has been going on for at least the 3+ years I've been playing on pp.

Re: Anyone know how they do it? Skipping SB on party

Well I'm curious about the original title of the post. HOW DO THEY DO IT? Every time I accidentally time out or otherwise miss the SB, Party makes me post 1 BB in the CO to come back in.

Sounds like there is some sort of trick involved, as to whether you VOLUNTARILY sit out, or whether you time out from the BB.

Actually, I think if you did post BB but forget to auto-post or not respond in time to post your SB, then there is NO dead blind for you to re-post after that hand. The only time you get the dead big blind + penalty small blind is if you DID miss your posted BB, I believe. Anyone can correct me here...

P.S. Of course when I accidentally do this rarely, I rather just take a mini-break and "wait for BB" for one orbit than to pay the stupid penalty small blind on top of posting a dead big blind...

Why would you alert Party support? Sitting on this guys left is an advantage (since then you don't have to post your big blind when he does this) to you so why make a fuss? I know exactly how to do it, but I rather not share.

you know how to skip the BB each round? or just the sb? b/c we've already proven that if you're a good player, it costs you money to not get your button.

shes talking about when it does not deal him in for the sb and you are on his direct left, it deals you your sb and the next person their bb, therefore you never have to pay your bb. So instead of UTG BB SB Button you get UTG SB Button. Obviously a HUGE advantage.

he said "i know exactly how do it but id rather not say." so he knows how to sit on somebody's left? or he knows how to skip the bb?

She knows how to skip the BB by sititng directly on the left of a guy who does this trick every round.

this happens to me alot if i join the table as BB but forget to check auto post.
or you could skip both and just get up before the BB, sit back down, and then post from late position. thats got to be +EV

that annoying eff schiesf (or something similar, or maybe something way different that starts with S) used to only play one orbit so he could just post the CO over and over, when asked why he replied 'i'm a pro, this saves me $1000s'

In a 1/2 structure you are paying 0.15sb/hand at a ten top. If you skip the blinds and button you are paying 0.143sb/hand but you don't ever get to play the most profitable position at the table.

In a 1/3 structure you are actually spending more to only post the CO and play 7 hands, 0.143sb/hand versuse 0.133sb/hand for a full table. This strategy would only be noticably profitable in a 2/3 structure.
