Atlantic City

Hi folks. I just got back from a day trip to the Trop last weekend, and my wife & I are going back in a couple weeks. I see people mostly referring to the Taj on this board. Does anybody have an opinion on the best low-limit Hold-Em to be found in AC?

Thanks

IMO, the best low limit (or any limit for that matter) can be found at The Taj. 2-4, 3-6, 5-10, and 10-20 games are always available, often with little or no wait. The room is much bigger, and the games are looser than those at Trop. This is because the Taj attracts more tourists and the poker room is more prominent (right at the front). Most people who go to Trop and play poker went there with that intent, and there are lots of tight regulars. IMO, Taj is the best place to play hold em on the east coast, though Trop can be fun once in awhile. Trop is also more laid back with a quieter atmosphere than Taj. Taj can be wilder, esp. on weekends (for a weekend 5-10 game, buckle your seatbelt). Gl.

i went to the taj a few weeks ago for my first live US play. i was surprised at how shabby and uncomfortable the poker room was, and how abysmal the drinks service was. is this the general standard? where are the most comfortable and stylish poker rooms?

Sounds like you need to go to Monte Carlo, if you're looking for something very luxurious. Now that's a beautiful casino and beautiful town. If you're wearing an Armani suit there you're just an average schmo.

The drinks at the Taj are pretty lame and the room is ok, the games are loose and sometimes wild. Don't give the players credit for thinking, you might think you can bluff a straight or flush and make them fold their top pair but they'll call and turn over pocket 3's unimproved quite often.
The trop has that pink game and the pot limit game on weekends and both of those have lots of action.

I think the Trop is the best place to play LLHE in AC (lets face it, you really only have 2 choices to play LLHE, that is the Taj or the Trop). Both places have a poker club card. The card for Trop will get you $50/Sun-Thu, $80/Fri, $90/Sat room rates with 4 or 5 hrs of play. The card also gets you credit at the gift shop and at the buffet. I currently have both cards (Trop and Taj), but I am unfamiliar with the Taj's rules. I hope this helps.
